Two types of henna are available at HiSUGARS Seminyak and Ubud.

NATURAL HENNA
The choice for clients who want the most authentic result.

Color develops gradually through oxidation, deepening from orange to reddish-brown over 48–72 hours.

INSTANT HENNA
Designed for fast results. Dries in 10–15 minutes, peels off immediately.

Produces a red to maroon tone in 10–15 minutes. You leave the salon with your final art on your skin.

Patch Test
A patch test is provided for every client before the appointment begins — one hand with Natural Henna, one hand with Instant Henna. For most skin types, any reaction will show within 5 minutes. If you have sensitive skin and want to be certain, we recommend booking a patch test at least 24 hours before your appointment. Available at both Seminyak and Ubud locations.Let us know in advance and we'll arrange it.
When to Avoid Henna
Henna is not recommended if you have open wounds, active skin irritation, sunburn in the treatment area, or a known allergy to henna or PPD (para-phenylenediamine).
On the Day
A short consent form will be completed at the salon before your appointment begins. This covers your skin history, design choice, and aftercare responsibility.
Aftercare
Avoid water, scrubbing, and friction on the design immediately after application. Keep the area free from lotions, oils, and exfoliating products for longer-lasting results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between Natural and Instant Henna?
Natural Henna is made from 100% natural Lawsonia inermis leaf powder. Color develops gradually over 48–72 hours and lasts 6–10 days. Instant Henna produces immediate color in 10–15 minutes and lasts 4–7 days. Both are skin-safe. Your therapist will help you choose at the appointment.
How long does henna last?
Natural Henna lasts 6–10 days. Instant Henna lasts 4–7 days. Longevity depends on your skin type, skin moisture, placement, and how well you follow aftercare. Your therapist at our Seminyak or Ubud studio will advise on expected longevity based on your skin type during your appointment.
Is henna safe for sensitive skin?
A patch test is provided for every client before the appointment. If you have sensitive skin and want to test 24 hours in advance, let us know when booking and we'll arrange it. We do not use black henna — which contains PPD and is associated with allergic reactions.
Can I choose my own design?
All designs are selected from our curated catalogue. Browse the catalogue for your location, choose your design, and note the code before booking. Custom designs outside the catalogue are not available at this time.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Henna appointments are by booking only at both Seminyak and Ubud. Walk-ins may be accommodated subject to availability — WhatsApp us to check before arriving.
What should I do after my henna appointment?
Avoid water, scrubbing, and friction on the design immediately after application. Keep the area free from lotions, oils, and exfoliating products. The longer you protect the design, the longer it lasts.
Where is Henna by HiSUGARS available?
Currently available at HiSUGARS Seminyak and HiSUGARS Ubud.
Is henna safe for children?
Natural Henna is safe for children aged 5 and older. We do not offer Instant Henna for children, as it contains synthetic dye which is not recommended for young or sensitive skin. A patch test is performed before every child's appointment, and parental consent is required. If your child has sensitive skin, a history of allergic reactions, or a known skin condition, please let us know when booking so we can advise accordingly.
How do I pick a design?
Browse our design catalogue before your appointment — each design has a code. Note your preferred code and include it when booking. Your therapist will confirm the design at your appointment. Seminyak and Ubud have separate catalogues — download yours from the booking section below.
